The purchase of equipment and accessories is increasingly happening via the Internet. Therefore, the website of an online store must be well-designed in terms of structure and usability, have good visibility (a well-developed semantic core), and occupy the first TOP-10 positions in the search results. It is also necessary to develop a blog in order to promote both commercial and information queries.
In a close-run competition of all-Ukrainian chains of electronics stores, increasing site traffic is possible only through a detailed SEO-promotion strategy and teamwork, which happened to our Сlient – the online store skay.ua.
Over the last 4 months of promotion (June-September 2021), we managed to increase store traffic by 1.95 times, and income by 2.3 times.
Our client is the owner of an online store of equipment and accessories with offline shops in Odessa. Delivery is carried out throughout Ukraine.
The customer contacted us with a desire to increase the number of new customers and increase sales.
SKAY is a large website (a large number of categories / subcategories / products), it is necessary to constantly monitor the positions, if necessary, perform semantics collection, write new optimized texts and rewrite texts where new search queries have appeared. It is also necessary to actively engage in the development of the link profile and filling the blog.

The Client’s site is constantly evolving: new categories and products are added.
The electronics sales niche is highly competitive. It is impossible to find points of growth and opportunities for promotion without analyzing competitors. This is one of the main stages of niche learning that we carry out for each project. It allows you to see effective solutions and implement it in the Client’s project.
The analysis showed in which directions to move when working with this project:
The Client’s offline stores are located in Odessa, and online delivery is carried out throughout Ukraine. Therefore, in the semantics, we took into account the queries with geo-belonging, for example: “buy apple watch odessa” or “buy macbook ukraine”. This rule of geo-inquiries works with all highly competitive topics – if a company has a physical address on the website and it is listed on the website, and then this website will have an advantage in promoting it for such a region. It is impossible to compete, for example, with the TOP results in Kiev without a representative office in this region.
We took into account sites similar in content when conducting the audit + took into account the largest market players. We tested and implemented features that will help you take top positions and get maximum traffic and conversions.
Also, based on the analysis of competitors, we expand the information semantics (we compose the technical specification for writing articles in the blog section).
One such article about wireless headphones came in at #1 in the search and got a dedicated snippet from Google. Due to the increased place in organic search results (snippet), the article makes it possible to get more traffic.

In September, the article brought in 11,588 hits from organic search, and since it was posted (June 2021), it brought in 24,523 visits.

In addition to introducing new features to improve user experience and behavioral factors, we also draw up technical specifications for writing and rewriting conventionally “old” texts for the blog. Thus, we introduce the collected semantics on the website, which leads to an increase in traffic.
In the world of technology often appears new products for which you need to create a separate landing page and create the texts so that the product appears as soon as possible in the search for user queries.
The text for the categories is necessary so that the Google crawler, which will crawl the page, understands what information is on this page and shows it for the necessary queries. The bot scans the text and sees keywords that tell it what queries the page is suitable for and how well it responds to the user’s query.
We used this approach to work out metadata, semantics and recommendations for the iPhone 13 page. This is one of the top and most anticipated gadgets on the market, which is of interest to many Ukrainians. Therefore, we prepared data as quickly as possible to optimize the website’s landing pages: new texts using keywords from the semantic core for iPhone 13 and metadata. Also, the keywords that were collected for the iPhone 13 will be used as anchors for external page optimization: both for articles and for crowd marketing.

We also periodically update the content on old articles: we update the semantics and content. This allows you to get more traffic to the updated pages and improve their position in the search results.

Thus, texts not from the first pages of the free issue increase their visibility and bring new readers/customers.
For example, an article written from scratch IPS or OLED – which phone screen is better: OLED, SUPER AMOLED, IPS or Retina display entered the TOP of search results and consistently brings traffic.

The amount of traffic to the page increased 5 times and continues to grow during the first and last month (August and October) after the rewriting. This trend can be seen on all pages of the blog.
The blog is currently the main source of visits for the website.
Due to the peculiarities of the CMS on which the Client’s site is built, we were faced with the fact that the robots indexed pages that should not be in the search results.
For example, a duplicate of the promoted category was created in the filters (which affects the loss of positions), or there were pagination pages in the index. At the same time, the main page of the category was not indexed everywhere.
We used Search Console to remove duplicates and send pages for forced reindexing.

First, we identified all the pages that needed to be removed from the index, since they interfered with the promotion, namely:
Then we added the “noindex” meta tag to all these pages, and Google began to throw them out of the index after re-crawling the pages.
According to Search Console, the number of pages in the index has noticeably decreased: from 66,512 to 52,084.
It turns out that 14 thousand pages were removed from the search results: duplicate filters, pagination and sorting pages. After that, work continued with the indexing of those pages that, due to duplicates, could not get into the search results.
We are actively working to increase the link profile, which leads to greater resource recognition and recommendations from the audience.

But the Client also has an increase in natural link mass.
During the period of the project, the number of requests for which the pages of the site are ranked in the TOP positions is actively growing:

Due to the expansion of the semantic core and active work on the blog, there are now 180,000 queries out of the total in the TOP-10.
As a result of applying the described strategy for 4 months of promotion (June-September 2021), the growth of users and sessions almost doubled, and the Client’s income increased by 2.3 times.

We were able to achieve such results thanks to team cooperation and assistance from the Client. The Client listens and fulfills our recommendations – quickly gives the ready-made texts according to the text ToR compiled by us (the Client has his own copywriter).
Regarding the budget for promotion – the Client heeded to our recommendations and increases funds for external optimization upon request. This allows you to increase the pace of promotion and improve SEO results.
For now, we are continuing to work with the Client:
Now we are also experimenting with micro-markup to increase the clickability of the snippet in the SERP. We are looking for new growth points, revising the current external promotion strategy to improve SEO performance.
Such results could not have been achieved without the support and cohesive work of the client, and a quick solution of technical errors on the website.
It is very difficult to break into the TOP-10 in highly competitive niches on your own. It is necessary to act in accordance with the developed SEO strategy, with regular work to improve the visibility of the website in the search for all types of frequency and nature of queries.
